AI writing assistant

Use AI Assist in the Ecency editor to polish your writing, suggest tags and titles, summarize posts and dictate text, paid with Ecency Points.

AI Assist is a writing helper built into the Ecency editor. It can polish your draft, fix grammar, suggest tags, propose titles and write a short summary. Each use costs a few Ecency Points. Everyone gets a small free allowance every day.

  • Web: in the post editor (ecency.com/publish), click the AI button in the toolbar (tooltip AI Assist).
  • Mobile: in the post editor, tap the toolbar button with the small AI badge.

You need to be logged in, because uses are paid from your Points balance.

Write your content first, then open AI Assist and pick what you want to do:

Action What it does Cost
Improve Writing Polishes grammar, clarity and style 50 Points
Check Grammar Fixes grammar and spelling 10 Points
Suggest Tags Suggests relevant tags for your post 10 Points
Generate Title Gives you three title options to choose from 10 Points
Recap Writes a short TL;DR summary 30 Points

These are the prices at the time of writing. The dialog always shows the current Cost and your Balance before you run an action.

Your text needs at least 50 characters for Improve Writing and Check Grammar. The other actions need at least 100 characters. The maximum is 10,000 characters.

Every account gets 1 free use of each action per day. The dialog shows how many free uses you have left today. Ecency Pro members get 5 free uses of each action per day. The free allowance resets at midnight UTC.

When the result is ready you can:

  • Apply to post: for Improve Writing, Check Grammar and Recap, this replaces your post text with the result. Generate Title sets the title you picked and Suggest Tags adds the tags.
  • Copy the result and paste it where you want it. This is the safer choice for Recap if you want to keep your full post and add a summary.
  • Try Again or Try Another Action.

On the web, Show changes highlights what Improve Writing or Check Grammar changed before you apply it.

If a request fails, your Points are refunded. If your text is rejected by the content policy, the Points are not refunded.

On the web, logged-in readers see a Recap box next to a post’s word count and read time. Click Start to get a short summary of the post. It uses the same Recap action and allowance as the editor. You can translate the summary from the result window.

You can also speak instead of type. In the editor toolbar, click the microphone (Dictate) on the web, or tap the dictation button with the AI badge on mobile. Record up to 5 minutes, then stop to transcribe it into your post.

Dictation is charged by length: 15 Points per 30 seconds of audio, rounded up. The dialog shows the running cost while you record. Ecency Pro members get one free 30-second block per day.

You can tell readers how AI helped with a post. On the web, open the ⋮ menu in the editor’s top bar and choose AI usage, then tick AI writing assistance and/or AI-generated media. Ecency ticks these for you when you apply an AI Assist edit or insert an AI image. You can change them before publishing. Disclosure is optional.

Posts with a disclosure show a small badge, AI usage disclosed by author. The disclosure is saved in a shared format, so other Hive apps can show it too.
