Subscribe to creators, communities and tags by email on Ecency, how automatic digests work, and how Ecency Pro creators send their own posts to subscribers.
Readers can follow creators, communities, tags or all of Ecency by email. Ecency sends a digest of new posts on a weekly or monthly schedule.
For readers
Section titled “For readers”- Subscribe: click Email digest on a creator’s profile or a community, or Get #tag by email on a tag feed. For a digest of all of Ecency, use the subscribe form on the ecency.com welcome page. Enter your email, pick how often (Weekly or Monthly) and click Subscribe. You don’t need a Hive account.
- Confirm: Ecency emails you a confirmation link. Until you click it, the button shows Digest: confirm email.
- Manage: logged-in users see every digest under Email digests in Settings, where you can switch between weekly and monthly, or leave.
- Unsubscribe: every email has a one-click unsubscribe link and a link to stop all Ecency emails.
You get at most one email per subscription for each period.
Automatic digests
Section titled “Automatic digests”Subscribers to a creator get a digest of that creator’s posts from the period. Weekly periods run Monday to Monday (UTC) and monthly ones follow the calendar month. Each issue goes out at 09:00 UTC on the day the period ends, and delivery is spread over the next few hours.
A tag digest needs at least 5 different authors posting in that tag in the last 30 days. Otherwise you’ll see a message that the tag is too quiet.
For creators with Ecency Pro
Section titled “For creators with Ecency Pro”Ecency Pro creators can send their own posts to their subscribers instead of waiting for the automatic digest:
- One post: open your own post and use Send to email subscribers. It works on your own top-level posts that have a title and aren’t NSFW or hidden.
- A digest you put together: use Compose email digest, pick 2 to 10 of your posts, add a subject (up to 120 characters) and an intro (up to 500 characters).
Ecency shows your subscriber count and a Copy subscribe link button you can share to grow your list. A send replaces that period’s automatic digest, so subscribers still get only one email. You can send once per period for each schedule (weekly and monthly are separate).
Lists that get too many spam complaints or bounced emails are suspended automatically to protect delivery for everyone, until the Ecency team reviews them.
If a send doesn’t go out
Section titled “If a send doesn’t go out”- This period’s digest has already gone out. Try again in the next period. Readers get one digest per period, and this one was already sent or replaced by the automatic digest.
- This post cannot be sent to the list. Only your own top-level posts with a title, not NSFW or hidden, can be sent.
- You cannot send to this list. Sending your own list needs Ecency Pro. For a community list you must be its owner or an admin.
- Sending is suspended for this list. Your profile or community page shows why: too many spam complaints, too many undeliverable addresses, or a pause by Ecency. Subscribers are kept. Contact Ecency support in the Town Square chat to have it reviewed.
- The digest service is not available right now or did not answer: try again in a moment.
Community owners and admins can send to their community’s subscribers. Moderators can see the list but not send.
