Delegate Resource Credits
Share your spare Resource Credits with another Hive account on Ecency, then update or remove the delegation.
Resource Credits (RC) are what every Hive action costs: posts, comments, votes and transfers. New accounts often have too little RC to do much. If you have RC to spare, you can delegate some of it to a friend so they can keep posting and voting while they grow their own Hive Power.
RC delegation is done on the Ecency website.
Why delegate RC
Section titled “Why delegate RC”- Onboard friends. A brand new account with little Hive Power runs out of RC quickly. A delegation lets them keep using Hive.
- Support an app or bot account that makes a lot of small transactions.
- Keep your Hive Power working for you. RC delegation does not move any HP.

How to delegate RC
Section titled “How to delegate RC”- Log in on ecency.com and open any profile page, for example your own.
- On the profile card, click the Resource Credits bar (it shows Available and Used).
- A window opens with your RC percentage, Delegations Out, Delegations In and an estimate of how many posts, votes and transfers your RC can cover.
- Click Delegate RC.
- In To, enter the username you want to delegate to. You can enter several usernames separated by commas to give each of them the same amount.
- In Amount, enter the RC amount as a whole number. The form shows your Balance in RC.
- Click Next, check the summary, then click Confirm and sign the transaction.
Amount rules
Section titled “Amount rules”- The minimum delegation is 5,000,000,000 RC (5 billion). Smaller amounts show “Minimum RC is 5,000,000,000”.
- The amount must be lower than your current RC balance, or you see “Insufficient resource credits”.
- RC numbers are large because RC is measured in small units. Your own balance is shown in the same units, so compare against it.
Update or remove a delegation
Section titled “Update or remove a delegation”- Open your own profile and click the Resource Credits bar.
- Click Delegations Out to see the Outgoing list. You can search it by username.
- Next to a delegation:
- Click update to open the delegation form with the current amount filled in. Change the amount and confirm.
- Click delete, then Confirm on “Are you sure?”. This sets the delegation to 0 and removes it.
Click Delegations In to see who is delegating RC to you (the Incoming list).
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- RC delegation only gives the recipient more transaction capacity. It does not give them HP, votes or rewards.
- The recipient’s RC from your delegation regenerates over time, like any other RC.
- You can change the amount at any time by delegating again to the same account.
