Snippets and templates
Save reusable pieces of text as snippets and whole post setups as templates, then use them in the Ecency editor on web and mobile.
Ecency has two ways to reuse what you write often:
- Snippets are short pieces of text, such as a signature, a footer with your links or a standard disclaimer. You insert them into a post or comment where your cursor is.
- Templates are whole post setups: title, body, tags and post settings. You start a new post from one.
Both are saved to your Ecency account, not to the blockchain, so they are private to you and available on the web and in the mobile app. You need to be logged in to use them.

In the same window you can search snippets by title (Search by title) and use the menu on each snippet to Edit or Delete it.

Section titled “Save a template”Write a post the way you want to reuse it, with its title, body, tags and settings such as rewards, beneficiaries or a poll.
- Web: open the ⋮ menu in the editor’s top bar and choose Save as template. Give it a Template name (for example “Weekly update”) and click Save.
- Mobile: open Post Options in the editor and tap Save as template, then enter a name.
You’ll see Template saved when it is stored.
Start a post from a template
Section titled “Start a post from a template”- Web: open the ⋮ menu in the editor and choose Templates. Search by name if you have many, then click Apply. If your editor already has content, Ecency asks before replacing it (Replace your current draft content?).
- Mobile: open Drafts from the side menu and go to the Templates tab. Tap a template to start a new post from it.
Delete a template
Section titled “Delete a template”In the templates list, use Delete on the template you no longer need and confirm. To change a template, apply it, make your changes and save it again as a new template, then delete the old one.
Make it your own
Section titled “Make it your own”Templates are a starting point. If you try to publish a post that is still mostly the template’s text, the web editor warns you: This post is still mostly your template. Add your own content before publishing. Posting near-identical content again and again can look like spam to readers and curators, so always add something new.
