Ask Esie, Ecency's AI helper in chat, about Ecency and Hive. What Esie can do, how to reach it, free questions and Points, safety and your data.
Esie is Ecency’s AI helper. It answers questions about Ecency and Hive from these guides, and it can look at your own Hive account (read-only) to help you understand what’s going on, for example why you can’t post or where your rewards went.
Esie is an AI and can make mistakes. Double-check anything important, especially before moving funds.
How to ask Esie
Section titled “How to ask Esie”- Direct message: open Chats, search for esie and send it a message. Esie answers in the same conversation.
- Mention in a channel: in a community channel or a group chat Esie was added to, write @esie followed by your question. Esie replies in a thread. It only answers when it is mentioned, and never joins private chats between other people.
Ask in your own language. Esie replies in the language you write in, with links to the English guides.
What Esie can do
Section titled “What Esie can do”- Explain Ecency features and Hive basics: posting, rewards, wallets, keys, Points, communities and more.
- Check your own account read-only: balances, savings, Hive Power, delegations, voting power, Resource Credits, pending rewards, power down and your recent posts. Esie can only see the account you are chatting from, never anyone else’s.
- Check a post or comment from its link (ecency.com, peakd.com or hive.blog): when it pays out, its payout value, whether rewards were declined, and whether it is hidden.
- Explain error messages. Paste the exact message. See also Common errors and fixes.
- Pass you to the Ecency team when it can’t help. You can be handed off once per day, and a team member then messages you in chat.
Esie can’t change anything for you. It can’t move funds, vote, post, delete or change settings. It tells you how to do it yourself.
Free questions and Points
Section titled “Free questions and Points”A few questions every day are free. The free count resets at 00:00 UTC.

After that, each question costs 5 Points. The first time each day, Esie asks first and tells you the price. Reply YES right after that message to pay. Once you’ve said YES, further questions that day cost 5 Points each without asking again. If Esie fails to answer, the Points go back to you. See Ecency Points.
Questions in channels are never charged, but they count toward your free questions. When you run out of free questions, Esie asks you to continue in a direct message, where you can choose to pay.
Locked out, hacked or lost your keys? Questions about getting back into your account are never charged. Up to 3 per day don’t count toward your free questions. Also follow Account recovery right away.
Safety
Section titled “Safety”- Esie never asks for your keys, password, seed phrase or funds. Nobody from Ecency does. Anyone who asks is a scammer.
- If you paste something that looks like a private key or master password, Esie removes it before reading your message and warns you. If it was a real key, change your keys now.
- In channels, other people can read Esie’s answers, so Esie doesn’t list your balances there unless you asked about them.
Your data
Section titled “Your data”- Esie keeps a copy of your conversations with it for 30 days, then deletes it.
- To delete it sooner, send !forget (or delete my data) to Esie in a direct message. Esie confirms when it’s done. This works only in a direct message, not in a channel.
- Your messages stay in the chat until you delete them yourself. Records of your free questions and Points spent stay in your Points history.
