Raidstead

How to play Raidstead, the community strategy game on Ecency where your Hive community raids a weekly pest and builds a town together.

Raidstead is a browser game on Ecency: “Communities against the swarm”. Your Hive community is your alliance. Every week a pest drifts into town. You scout its weakness, hit it together with your alliance and build your town between raids.

Play at ecency.com/raidstead. You can also open it from Raidstead in the Ecency menu or from the Raidstead card on the Perks page.

Raidstead uses your Hive account:

  • If you are logged in to Ecency, you are signed in automatically. Select Play as @yourname.
  • If you are not logged in, select Sign in with your wallet and sign once with Hive Keychain, Hive Keeper or Peak Vault. After that you stay signed in on that device.

Your keys never go to the game. You can sign out from the menu with Sign out of Raidstead.

Your alliance is one of the Hive communities you have joined on Ecency. Pick it in Pick your alliance at the start. It stays the same until the season ends. If you haven’t joined any communities yet, use Browse communities, join one and come back.

Everyone in a community plays on the same team, faces the same pest and builds the same town.

The Field guide in the menu explains the rules. In short:

  1. Scout the pest. Each pest is weak to Ink, Signal or Forge. The right type does double damage. You get a free scout each day.
  2. Attack together. Every attack costs 1 energy. Your heroes throw different types: the Scribe throws Ink, the Scout throws Signal and the Smith throws Forge. At half health a shield of gnats forms, so clear them first. At 75% a Clickbait Wasp may join and dodge you until you scout again.
  3. Build your town. Wins bring materials. Spend them on buildings that help the next raid.

When the pest is chased off, everyone who raided that week shares the win.

You get 5 energy a day, plus 1 energy for each Ecency daily quest you finish (check in, publish a post, leave 3 comments). Once a day, the Herald can Rally for 5 more energy, which costs 50 Points. Some buildings and powers add more.

A season has four weekly pests, each with a trick:

  • Spam Beetle: copies itself overnight if nobody attacks all day. Hit it at least once every day.
  • Doomscroll Slug: heals overnight if nobody keeps it busy. Show up a little every day.
  • Echo Twins: a hit only counts when the other twin is hit within 6 seconds. Take turns: anyone in your alliance can finish the pair.
  • Copycat Queen (season finale): changes her weakness 20 seconds after every scout. Scout, then hit hard with the right type.

Buildings go through stages (Blueprint, Foundation, Half built, Finished) and cost materials. You must raid at least once in the season to help build. Examples:

  • Hall: the town’s level. No building can go higher than the Hall.
  • Watchtower: one extra free scout a day.
  • Workshop: crafts season powers such as Double Tap or Keen Eye. Crafting costs 2 shards.
  • Beacon: +1 energy for everyone, every day.
  • Walls: fewer gnats.
  • Library: town news and the raid report.

The Library can draft a raid report for your community: a post with the week’s top raiders and your town’s status. Select Open in the editor, edit it and publish if you like.

A season has 28 raid days (four raid weeks) followed by a 2-day rest. The header shows the season and the day. Days change at 00:00 UTC.

Karma, badges, trophies and your count of pests chased off stay with you. Shards, powers and the town start fresh each season.

  • This week’s raiders shows who hit the pest hardest.
  • Alliance leaderboard ranks alliances for the season in Small, Medium and Large leagues.
  • Your Profile and badges page shows your karma, badges and season trophies.

Raidstead pays no Points, HIVE or tokens. The rewards are badges, trophies and karma. Points are only spent in the game (on rallies and the alliance war chest). Every Point spent is burned. When an alliance’s war chest reaches 1,000 Points, everyone in it gets +1 damage for 24 hours. There is a daily limit on how many Points you can spend in the game. Delegating Hive Power doesn’t affect the game.

Badges you can earn: First kill (help chase off a pest), Pest control (3 pests), Scout’s eye (find the weakness 3 times), Rally caller, Loyal raider (attack on 5 different days), Season finisher, Town builder and Peacemaker.

Ideas and feedback on Raidstead are collected in this thread on GitHub.
