Scheduled posts
Schedule a post to publish later on Ecency, then manage, move or delete your scheduled posts on the web and in the mobile app.
You can write a post now and let Ecency publish it for you later. This is handy for posting at a time when your readers are most active, or for spreading out posts you wrote in one go.
Before you start: posting authority
Section titled “Before you start: posting authority”A scheduled post is published by Ecency on your behalf at the time you choose, while you may be offline. For that, your Hive account must give the ecency.app account posting authority. Posting authority only allows posting-type actions such as posts, comments and votes. It cannot move funds or change your keys. You can remove it at any time.
- If you logged in to the web app with HiveSigner, or with your active key or master password, Ecency usually has this permission already. A posting key or Keychain login does not add it.
- The mobile app checks when you schedule. If the permission is missing, it asks you to grant it before the post is scheduled.
You can review which apps have authority over your account under Settings, in Keys & permissions. See Manage keys and permissions for more.
Schedule a post on the web
Section titled “Schedule a post on the web”- Write your post in the editor at ecency.com/publish, with a title, body and at least one tag.
- Open the schedule picker. You can do this from the ⋮ menu in the editor’s top bar (Schedule settings), or from the review step before publishing (Schedule for later).
- Pick a date and time. It must be at least 1 hour from now. Click Done.
- The publish button now reads Schedule Now. Click it.
When it works, you see Your post is scheduled. To change the time before you confirm, click Update Schedule in the review step.
Schedule a post in the mobile app
Section titled “Schedule a post in the mobile app”- Write your post in the editor.
- Open the post settings (Post Options).
- Under Scheduled For, choose Later and pick a date and time.
- Publish as usual. The post goes to your schedules instead of being published right away.
Video posts can’t be scheduled in the mobile app.
Manage your scheduled posts
Section titled “Manage your scheduled posts”- Web: open your account menu and choose Schedules. The Scheduled Posts window lists every scheduled post with its time.
- Mobile: open the side menu and tap Schedules. Scheduled posts also have their own Schedules tab on the Drafts screen, next to Drafts and Templates.
Each scheduled post shows its status:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Waiting for its publish time (a clock icon and the time on the web) |
| Postponed | Publishing was postponed (an orange clock on the web) |
| Published | Published to Hive (a green double check on the web) |
| Error | Could not be published (a red alert icon on the web) |
Edit, move or cancel
Section titled “Edit, move or cancel”There is no in-place editor for a scheduled post. To change one:
- Use Move to drafts. The post leaves your schedule and appears in your drafts.
- Open the draft, make your changes and schedule it again.
To cancel a scheduled post completely, use Delete. On the web, both actions ask you to confirm first.
If a scheduled post fails
Section titled “If a scheduled post fails”If a post shows Error, it was not published. Check that ecency.app still has posting authority on your account (see above) and that your account has enough Resource Credits. Then move the post to drafts and publish or schedule it again.
